Change or cancel your plan

Last updated .

Everything about what you pay is under Settings, then Plans. That page shows what your family has now, what each plan includes, and what you are using.

Payments are handled by Stripe. Card details never reach Coparia: you type them on Stripe’s own page, and changing a card, reading an invoice or canceling all happen there too. The buttons on the Plans page take you to it and bring you back.

If you subscribed in the iPhone or iPad app

A plan bought in the Coparia app on an iPhone or iPad is billed by Apple, not Stripe, so it is changed and canceled with Apple too. The Plans page here says so and shows no buttons for it.

  1. On the iPhone or iPad it was bought on, open Settings.
  2. Tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Coparia.
  3. Switch between Plus and Pro, or cancel.

In the app, Plans has a Manage in the App Store button that opens the same screen. Refunds for a plan bought in the app are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Archiving the family or deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription: cancel it in Settings first.

Upgrade to a paid plan

  1. Open Settings, then Plans.
  2. Choose Monthly or Yearly at the top. The price on each card changes with it, and it is the price you will be charged.
  3. Select Upgrade to Plus or Upgrade to Pro.
  4. Pay on Stripe’s page.

Your plan is usually live within a few seconds of paying. The page says “being activated” until it is, because the confirmation and the plan arrive separately and we would rather say so than show you a plan that is not there yet.

One plan covers the household, not a person. Your co-parent and any helpers in that family get the same thing without buying anything.

Switch between monthly and yearly

On the Plans page, choose the other option at the top, then select Upgrade to Yearly or Downgrade to Monthly on the plan you are on. It happens right there; you are not sent to Stripe’s page for it.

Yearly is the cheaper way to pay for the same plan. Nothing about what you get changes. Moving to yearly takes effect straight away, and moving back to monthly waits for the end of the period you have paid for, the same as any other move down.

The page says “being applied” for a moment after you select it. The change and the confirmation arrive separately, so the button clears itself once your new billing period is really in place.

Change to a different plan

Select the plan you want, on the Plans page. Both directions happen there; neither needs you to go anywhere else.

Moving up takes effect straight away, and you are charged the difference for the days left in the period rather than a fresh full price.

Moving down takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. You keep the plan you are on until then, and the cheaper price starts when it runs out. Nothing is refunded, because nothing is unused: you have the higher plan for every day you paid for it.

While a change is waiting, the Plans page says so on both cards: the one you are leaving is marked Until the date, and the one you are moving to is marked Your plan from it.

Why you cannot cancel while a change is scheduled

Our payment provider will not cancel a subscription that has a change waiting on it. If you scheduled a move to a different plan and have since decided to stop altogether, the cancel option is refused until the scheduled change is dropped.

What to do: open Settings, then Plans. Under the plan cards you will see that a change is scheduled, with a Drop the scheduled change button. Select it, then cancel as normal. Dropping the change leaves you on the plan you have now; it does not charge you anything and it does not cancel anything by itself.

If you are on Stripe’s billing page and the cancel option is missing, that is why. Come back to Coparia and do it in that order.

Cancel

  1. Open Settings, then Plans.
  2. Select Cancel your plan under the plan cards.
  3. Confirm on Stripe’s page.

You keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for. Canceling on the 3rd does not cut you off on the 3rd. After that date your family moves to the free plan.

Archiving a family cancels its plan for you, the same way: it stops renewing at the end of the period you paid for, and it is not refunded automatically. See What happens when you archive a family.

Nothing is deleted when a plan ends. Your calendar, parenting schedules, messages, routines, journal and expenses all stay exactly where they are. What the free plan limits is adding more, and how far back the calendar scrolls.

Expenses are part of a paid plan, and the past stays yours. On the free plan you can still read every expense your family recorded, answer a request to be paid back, remind or cancel a request you sent, and download all of it. What stops is adding, changing or importing expenses, asking to be paid back and sending a statement. See keep track of expenses. You can download your whole family record at any time, on any plan, from Settings, then Family record.

You do not need to tell us why, and you do not need to email anybody. If you cannot reach the billing page for any reason, write to support@coparia.app and we will cancel it for you.

Change your mind: renew a plan that is ending

Between the day you cancel and the day it runs out, nothing has been taken away and the whole thing can be undone.

  1. Open Settings, then Plans.
  2. Select Renew subscription under the plan cards. It is the same button as before, renamed: Stripe’s page is where a cancellation is made and where it is taken back.
  3. Confirm on Stripe’s page.

Renewing before the end date puts everything back as it was. There is no gap and nothing to set up again.

While your plan is ending, you cannot change to a different plan or switch between monthly and yearly. The plan buttons are gone from the cards, and the page says why. This is deliberate: at our payment provider, scheduling a change is what cancels a cancellation, so a plan change made now would quietly renew you. Renew first if that is what you want, and the options come back.

Refunds

Ask within 15 days of purchase and we refund your first charge in full, no questions. The full policy is at coparia.app/refunds.

When it does not work

The Plans page has no buttons. There are three reasons. You are a helper rather than a parent, since committing a household to a recurring charge is a parent’s decision. Or your family’s plan was granted by us rather than bought, in which case there is nothing at Stripe to manage. Or your plan is set to end, and a banner at the top of the page says so: renew it and the options come back.

Your plan says it comes from another household. Somebody else’s plan covers your family. It is changed and canceled where it was bought, not here.

Your payment did not go through. The Plans page says so, and says what still works: the calendar, parenting schedules and messages are never switched off for a failed payment. Use Update your card to fix it.

Open this in Coparia, where you can search every article and ask about your own calendar.
