Download your family record

Last updated .

You can take a complete copy of your family’s record whenever you like, on every plan, including the free one. Nothing about your history is held back behind a plan: the free plan limits how far back the calendar scrolls, and the record is how that stays fair.

Before you start. You need to be a parent in the family. Helpers do not see this page. It is in Settings on the web, at app.coparia.app, and in the phone app.

Download the record

  1. Open Settings, then Family record.
  2. Choose a format, and select Download beside it. A document is a PDF, laid out to be read and printed. This is the one to give a lawyer. A data file is JSON, for anything that reads your record by machine. It cannot be loaded back into Coparia.
  3. In Download the family record, under What to include, check the parts you want. See the list below.
  4. Choose the dates the record covers, or leave them as they are for everything.
  5. Select Download.

If you close the window without downloading, your choices are kept for the next time you open it while you are still on the page.

The file is prepared on the server and then downloaded. A large family takes a few seconds, and progress is shown while you wait.

What to include

Every record has the children and the history of who joined and left the family. The rest is your choice:

  • Calendar: the custody days and every event.
  • Day details: handoffs, swaps and holidays.
  • Messages: every conversation in the family, written by everyone in it and not only by you. Somebody about to hand this to a lawyer should know it contains the other parent’s words as well. Photos and files sent in a message are listed by file name under the message they came with. Downloading messages is part of a paid plan. They stay in Coparia either way, and you can read them there for as long as the family exists.
  • Journal
  • Expenses: every expense, its split, any requests to be paid back and their answers, and the statements you sent. The document has a table for each month with totals by category, and lists each receipt by its file name. Expenses are free to download on every plan, including after a plan ends. See keep track of expenses.
  • Routines: every routine step that was due each day, whether or not it was checked off, with who checked it off and when. A step nobody checked off is shown as not done. Unchecking a step leaves no trace, so an unchecked step reads as never done.
  • Caregivers
  • Need to know

Only what you check is in the file. Before you hand a record to somebody, check the list: messages and expenses in particular change what the document is.

Choose the dates

The dates limit what happened in that period: events, custody days, handoff changes, routine days, expenses, statements and messages. Leave both empty on the web, or choose All dates on the phone, to take everything. The children and the family’s history are always included whole, because they are what the rest is read against.

The calendar as a file you can subscribe to lives elsewhere. See connect Coparia to your calendar app.

The parenting time report

The same page can count the nights. Under Parenting time report, choose a From and To date and select Show. It tells you how many nights each home had between those dates, and how many were not covered by any schedule, so the numbers add up to the whole period.

This report is part of a paid plan. The download above is free whatever your plan.

When it does not work

You cannot find Family record in Settings. Only a parent in the family sees it. A helper does not.

The download never arrives. A browser set to block downloads from the site stops it silently. Allow downloads for app.coparia.app and try again. Each link works once and for a minute, so if it was interrupted, select Download again rather than reloading an old link.

You cannot check Messages. Downloading messages needs a paid plan. See change your plan. Everything else in the list works on every plan.

Open this in Coparia, where you can search every article and ask about your own calendar.
