Message the other parent

Last updated .

Messages in Coparia sit with the calendar they are about, so arranging a swap or asking about a pickup does not happen in a text thread nobody can find in six months.

Start a conversation

  1. Open Messages.
  2. Select the plus at the top and choose who it is with. A conversation can be with the other parent, or include a helper.
  3. Write, and send. A draft you started and did not send is still there when you come back.

A conversation can be renamed, and marked unread if you want to come back to it.

What a message can carry

  • A reaction: long-press a message on a phone, or hover over it on the web, and pick one.
  • A typing indicator, so you can see the other person is answering.
  • Read receipts, so you know a message arrived and was seen.
  • Photos and files, up to 4 in a message, from the plus beside the message box. Once sent they stay with the message. See send photos and files in a message.

Find a message again

On Plus, Search at the top of Messages looks through every conversation in the family, back to the beginning, and opens the message where it sits in its thread.

Who can read what

A conversation is only visible to the people in it. A helper never sees a conversation between the two parents unless they were added to it. See Who can see what for the whole picture.

Report a message

If a message is abusive, threatening, inappropriate or spam, you can report it to us. We read every report.

  1. On a phone, press and hold the message, then select Report message. On the web, hover over the message, select the three dots beside the time, then Report message.
  2. Choose a reason, and add a note if it helps.
  3. Select Submit.

To report a person rather than one message, on a phone select their name above one of their messages and choose Report. On the web, open the menu at the top of the conversation and choose Report with their name.

They are not told. The person you report does not get a notification or an email, and nothing about the report appears in the family record.

After you submit, you can also block them. See Stop someone messaging you.

You can only report a message someone else sent, in a conversation you are in. Reporting the same message twice sends one report.

On a phone

Messages has its own tab. Conversations you have opened before can be read without a connection; sending needs one, and the app tells you when a message is waiting to go.

Open this in Coparia, where you can search every article and ask about your own calendar.
